Consistently knocking on the door for the two-day flag, the Eagles have had a few changes this season. Daniel Kerber the third skipper in three years and similar in the coaching department with Darren Treumer. They’ll be looking to take it back to the basics along with no off-field distractions in 2023. Big thanks to Darwin CC President Cameron McNally taking the time to respond.

Eagles battled a bit last season in the 1s but still managed to make the big dance, what do you think you’ve changed from last season that was holding you back from potentially going one better?
Our expectation for the season ahead, across all grades and competitions, is to play hard competitive cricket and to be successful.
How’s the appointment of DT been with the playing group and been received by the competition overall?
As our new Club Coach, DT has been awesome in helping us set the platform we need for us to achieve our goals as well as provide us with the tools we need to be as good as we can be. We are extremely lucky to have DT and his family involved at the Nest. Having DT back and contributing to Top End Cricket, at a club level, only makes Darwin Cricket better.
Some positive you’ve had in preseason, young players progressing well?
The offseason and preseason have been really good. A number of our local cricketers have been working hard right throughout the wet and I am looking forward to these guys getting some reward for their effort and pushing for selection up the grades. Names like Rossi, McMahon, Troy, Denby, Menzies, Stephens and Andrews stand out for the work they have been putting in. We have always had some really good depth at the club, and I do not expect this season to be any different.
What we’re trying to do down at the Nest is create a place where we are all trying to get better in an environment that is enjoyable, inclusive and accountable. So far, the vibes have been immaculate.
How is the women’s team looking?
We do have a focus on our Women’s program, and we are struggling with numbers at the moment, so if there are any women out there that are looking for a game of cricket in a fun club environment please reach out to the team at
Thoughts on no Cricket 365 this season?
NT Cricket has worked hard to try and align Cricket 365 to the needs and wants of the Darwin and Districts Competition, and I genuinely believe all parties are getting closer to a workable model. I would be disappointed if it wasn’t to go ahead in some shape as it genuinely provided an additional allure to town for some really good cricketers that would not have come to town if not for Cricket 365. Having guys like Chris Tremain and Lloyd Pope at our club over the last few years was awesome for our group, juniors especially, just to see how these guys go about their business. The reality is if not for 365 they simply would not have been here.
How’s the square looking down at Kahlin?
Curators Willoughby © Denby, Kerber, Lawrence and Treumer have the pitch in great shape.
Appreciate your time and all the best for 2024.
