Darwin Dilettantes continue Chiang Mai Sixes tradition - 2024

Darwin Dilettantes continue Chiang Mai Sixes tradition - 2024
Darwin Dilettantes have again appeared in the Chiang Mai Sixes, making the semi final in their division. The competition has been running for over 30 years and a Darwin side has been competing regularly ever since. All proceeds and donations go to cricket development in Thailand.

The competition is graded with ex pros from Bangladesh to 60 year olds. In this edition there were three teams from the Northern Territory, Darwin organised by club legend Greg Bicknell with a mixture of players from Darwin, Stanthorpe and Newcastle.

NT Bush Rangers, with regional legend, Marcus Rosas, a culmination of players from Darwin, Katherine, Timber Creek and Kunnunurra, and the third side was Central Spirit, Alice Springs women’s side.

The competition is unique and contributor to this piece, Chris Pargeter says it was interesting to see the Thai teams play especially with their younger players coming through and how good they were.

Darwin Dilettantes also played for the Ashes against Stuffed Beaver CC. Andrew Strangway aka Beans skippered the side to a victory and first raising of the Ashes (Beans’ burnt socks from the previous year).

Thanks to Chris Pargeter and Beans for the info and photos.
