B grade One Day Final 2024 - Darwin v Palmerston

In the grand final of the B grade cricket competition in the Darwin and District Cricket Competition, Palmerston won the toss and batting against favourites Darwin. With former Eagle Ethan Anderson setting the tone early, Palmerston raced 39 runs off the first four overs. A fifth over bowling change with Brautigam experience into the attack early proved pivotal as Anderson was dismissed for 18. Hill fell next over to Smith and Darwin had quickly arrested the runrate.

Allan and McMahon were able to build 39 run partnership before Allan top scoring with 28 fell caught behind to Menzies to be 3 for 79. With McMahon’s disastrous runout a short time later and veteran Chatto pulling a hamstring, the Eagles were edging ahead. The top six all made starts but wickets fell just as they’ve looked as though they were gaining some momentum. Page, Menzies and Dixon all picking up 2 wickets as Palmerston were bowled out for 155 in 37 overs.

In response the Eagles dominated proceedings besides the early run out of Menzies with man of the match Andrews crushing 72 runs off 34, monstering the attack early to all parts of the ground. Stand in skipper Troy with another composed 29, the pair putting on 88 inside eight overs. With Andrews dismissal at 2 for 94, the damage was all but done, Palmerston weren't able to recover. Their best with the ball, Snape 2 for 18 again showing his class but the Eagles too good, passing the total in 21 overs only five wickets down.
