Aligning Values: The Success of the Top End Series and the Future of NT Cricket

Anonymous opinion piece:

The so far successful top end series has proven that cricket in the Territory does, in actual fact, share the same demographic and structure as global society and is in no way complex or unique.

Essentially, when a person or persons who have decision-making powers share the same values as the people for whom they make those decisions, everything works. When those powers are used for purposes that do not represent the values of the persons for whom those decisions concern, you end up with stuff like the strike league.

Historically, through various comments and posts on this and other social media, DCNS has stated various times that what is currently happening should be. The response from those in the community who have supported the top end series has been largely noticed. In years to come, with investment, continual improvement, and fresh ideas, cricket in the Territory will be on a global scale. Thanks to the community, who love and enjoy cricket, and thanks to the decision makers who will make calls based on the values of the community.

It just goes to show that in Territory, where the structure is not diverse or complex in any way, and shares the exact same issues as everywhere else in the world that has people and a societal structure, there is absolutely no reason that investment in the game that we all enjoy can not be made. Absolutely no reason for the decision makers to be doing anything other than sharing the values of the community who love and participate in cricket in the Northern Territory.
